Byte & Board is a four-round technical puzzle gauntlet that merges electronics, programming, and logical reasoning. Teams will navigate challenges involving logic circuits, binary and hexadecimal decoding, code analysis, and cryptic password deduction. Each round unlocks a crucial "key" leading to the next stage. The final mission: combine all keys to generate a master password — the fastest team to crack it, wins.
Round 1 – Logic Gate Challenge: Teams solve a circuit-based puzzle whose output forms a binary string (Key 1) — the clue for Round 2.
Round 2 – Binary to Hex Decode: Teams convert Key 1 into a hexadecimal string (Key 2) using decoding logic.
Round 3 – Code Analysis: Participants analyze a C program featuring loops and conditions. The program's output provides Key 3 (a decimal string) required for the final challenge.
Round 4 – The Final Password: Using all three keys, teams must apply an algorithm to process Key 1, execute a provided Python code using Key 2, and solve a mathematical equation with Key 3. The results are combined in a specific pattern to form the final password.
Rules & Regulations
Only registered teams are eligible to participate.
Each team receives a starter kit for Round 1 containing all required materials.
External electronic devices are prohibited unless explicitly permitted (e.g., final password entry).
Teams progress only after verification of each round's solution.
In the final round, only one team member may approach the laptop to enter the password.
Team composition: 2–4 participants per team.
Registration Fee: 500 INR per team.
Each institution can have a maximum of two registrations as contingents for every event
Judging Criteria
Speed: Fastest correct team to enter the final password wins.
Accuracy: Only teams with verified correct solutions in all rounds qualify for the final.
Teamwork: Effective collaboration may be rewarded in the event of a tie.
